Education- There is no substitute for a fully-qualified and experienced instructor.
Steve's been playing the guitar now for 29 years-and counting-and teaching professionally for the last 19 years. He's happy to note that he sees several of his former students up on big posters in the record shops and doing well on the charts. He was initially self-taught by slowing down black vinyl records on his mom's old Philips stereo. He studied jazz theory with several renowned teachers, Rob Piltch, Silvio Simone and Lloyd Garber to name a few.Steve studied under Dr.Trevor Payne in college. He has an Honours Bachelor of Music Degree with classical guitar as the principal instrument . Professors he was fortunate to study with were Glenn Buhr and Gary Kulesha.
Bass guitar and drums are his second and third instruments.
Recording
Some of Steve's recording credits include bass and rhythm guitar for world guitarist Johannes Linstead, and bass for classical and nouveau flamenco guitarist Liona Boyd. He's also written music for local television shows and Internet sites. He's produced two independent CD's of original music-one in a Latin rock style and the other in an eclectic rock vein.
Steve's upcoming CD, “Tranzendance” is receiving radio airplay in the smooth jazz format. The first single is entitled, “The Seeker”.
Coupled with these musical attributes Steve is a practitioner of Feng Shui, Martial Arts,Yoga, and a self-confessed junkie for self-improvement/personal development courses, and coaches such as Robin Sharma. Steve is also a voracious reader and follower of more spiritual-based avatars such as Eckhart Tolle.
This integration of worlds is what makes 'Guitar Insight' such a compelling journey for the reader/student to undertake.
